Biography

Isabel Andrickson joined Pellerano & Herrera in 1995 and became a Special Counsel in 2018. Isabel leads the Labor, Digital and Technology practice areas. She has more than 25 years of experience in the law, and concentrates her practice on counseling industry leaders and startups in the areas of labor, employment, social security, free zones, sports law and film, entertainment and telecommunications law. In addition, she advises international companies interested in establishing a presence in the Dominican Republic.

Among her most representative transactions involving labor and employment matters, Isabel advised the administrator of the largest pension fund in the Dominican Republic in a case that established a precedent on the application of labor risk insurance by the Dominican Social Security System. Isabel also has advised highly regarded global companies in the pharmaceutical, mining, and film industries, among others, in connection with their recruitment of senior executives, both foreign and local, including by reviewing benefit packages and their impact on labor, tax and social security laws and by offering advice regarding termination of employment contracts, negotiations and drafting of employment documents. For example, she has advised a mining company in negotiating and signing a collective bargaining agreement with the company’s union, including advising the company with respect to mediation before Dominican authorities.

Together with attorneys from the firm’s litigation department, Isabel represented a leading technology and communications company in the Caribbean in a lawsuit in the Dominican Republic against its former employees alleging a breach of confidentiality agreements. In addition, she has provided legal assistance to a leading multinational pharmaceutical company in the restructuring of its business products, including therein regulatory issues.

Isabel is ranked by Chambers and Partners, Dominican Republic, Labour & Employment and is featured in the Who’s Who Legal directory. She is member of the Dominican Bar Association and the Dominican Notary Public Association.

Isabel received her Bachelor of Laws from Universidad APEC, and graduated from the Lex Mundi Institute Cross-Border Labor and Employment Program. She has participated in various workshops and programs focusing on commercial arbitration, constitutional precedents, real estate law, commercial and corporate law, public procurement, general trust and development of the mortgage law, labor and employment and social security, among others. She has taught the Civil Law course at Universidad Católica de Santo Domingo. She is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
